“Jack” C. Zaenger, age 89 years of Ottawa
Lake, MI, died Monday, November 19, 2007
in his home. Born January 18, 1918 in Toledo,
OH, he was the son of John G. and Bessie
(Reidling) Zaenger. A 1936 graduate from
Woodward High School, Jack served his country
in the US Army during WWII and was a survivor
of the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. He
married Edna V. Taylor on May 4, 1946 in
Toledo. He was employed as an electrician
by GM Powertrain for 21 years, retiring
in 1983. He was a member of St. Michael's
Lutheran Church in Ottawa Lake, MI and the
U.A.W., Local #14, in Toledo, OH . He also
loved gardening.
Surviving
are his loving wife of 61 years, Edna. Children,
Chris (Beth) Zaenger of Columbus, OH, Jacci
Zaenger of Toledo, OH, Dennis (Eileen) Zaenger
of Falls Church, Virginia and Amy (Tom)
Grant of Ottawa Lake, MI. Sister, Barbara
Zaenger of Toledo, OH Brothers, Duane and
Cal Zaenger, 7 grandchildren, Kevin (Ali)
Zaenger, Katy (Jason) Moore, Greg, Megan
and Audrey Grant, Kyle and Nick Zaenger
and 2 great grandchildren. Jack was preceded
in death by 4 brothers, Arnold, Richard,
Ken and Herbert Zaenger and sister, Valdetta
Decker.
Visitation
will be held Friday from 3-9 pm at the Michael
W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at
Jackman) Temperance, MI. Funeral services
will be held Saturday at 11:00 am at St.
Michael's Lutheran Church in Ottawa Lake,
MI, where he will lie in state after 10:00
am. Rev. Mark Gibbs, officiating. Memorials
may be made to Mercy Memorial Hospice or
Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity, Toledo,
OH.
