Eugene
“Russ” Windom, age 85 years of Erie, MI,
went to be with his Lord on Wednesday,
March 26, 2008 in his home surrounded
by his loving family. Born Nov. 19, 1922
in Cairo, WV, he was the son of James
E. and Bessie M. (Haney) Windom. A US
Navy veteran of WWII, he married Florence
Lemley on April 27, 1943 in Cairo, WV.
Russ was a plumber and pipefitter for
the local 50 Union in Perrysburg, OH.
He loved the fellowship of Flanders Road
Church of Christ and was also a member
of the Conn-Weisenberger Post # 587 American
Legion in Toledo. He also enjoyed the
commraderie of Club 16 and was an avid
golfer, gardener, fisherman and hunter.
Russ cherished his time spent with his
grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was a descendant of William Windom,
Secretary of the Treasury, serving President
James Garfield and also a descendant of
William Windom, the Emmy Award winning
actor.
Surviving
are his loving wife, Florence. Children,
Michael (Judy) Windom and Beverly (Ronald)
Kinsey. Brother, Ronald “Dink” Windom
and 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
He
was preceded in death by a son, Larry Russell
and 2 brothers, Leonard and James Windom.
Visitation will be held from 2-7 pm Saturday
at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640
Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where
funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Northwest
Ohio or Flanders Road Church of Christ.
