Jerry David Wexler, age 65 years of Toledo, OH, died Friday, October 30, 2009 in his home. Born October 9, 1944 in Toledo, OH, he was the son of Bennie and Dorothy (Kaplan) Wexler. A US Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he graduated from the former DeVilbiss High School in 1962. He married Debra Ann Light May 13, 1994. She preceded him in death on May 26, 2008. Jerry was the former owner and operator of Jerry and Ben’s Retreat in Toledo, retiring in 2007. He also retired from the Chrysler Corporation (Jeep) in 2007. He enjoyed spending time fishing and boating at Round Lake and hanging out with his family barbecuing and swimming at his home by his meticulously groomed lawn. Jerry was a fun loving guy, who enjoyed watching football games with his brother in laws, the Light boys.
Surviving are his loving daughters, Jessica (Jeremy) Snyder of Lambertville, MI and Jaclyn (Marc Fletcher) Wexler of Toledo, OH. Brother, Stephen (Belinda) Wexler of Toledo, OH. Former wife, Jane Wexler of Temperance, MI and many adored nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sharon Greenbaum.
Visitation will be held from 2-8 pm Monday at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 am. Memorials may be made to the Relay for Life or Toys for Tots.
