Richard “Dick” W. Werth, 56 years of Ottawa Lake, MI, died August 25, 2009 in Ebeid Hospice Residence, Sylvania, OH.  Born June 4, 1953 in Evanston, IL, he was the son of Rev. William H. and Mary Lou (Thomas) Werth.  A 1971 Bowsher High School graduate, he married Trish Wilson on Oct. 20, 1979 in Temperance, MI.  Dick received his Bachelor’s of Arts in History from Alma College in 1978. He received a second Bachelor’s degree from the University of Toledo in 1986 with a degree and certification in secondary education.  He received his Masters in the Art of Education from Marygrove College in 1994. Dick was the Regional Education Manager for Holy Cross Children’s Services – Moreau Center in Monroe, MI for the past 20 years.  He was a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Blissfield, MI.  He was also the founder and director of “Wingin’ It”, a Christian theater group based out of LaSalle Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his loving wife, Trish.  Sons, Steven Werth of Pittsburgh, PA and Adam Werth of Burbank, CA. Grandchildren, Elijah and Anna Werth.  Father, Rev. William H. (Ella) Werth of Toledo, OH.  Brothers, Robert (Kit) Werth of Bowling Green, OH, James (Kim) Werth of Toledo, OH and Rev. John (Amanda) Werth of Cavalier, ND.  Sisters, Carol (Pat) Jansen of Toledo, OH, Susan Colton of Toledo, OH and Mary Helen (Cybil) Werth of Murfreesboro, TN. Sister-in-law, Cherri (Doug) Redding of Temperance, MI and Mother-in-law and Father-in-law, Howard and Louise Wilson of Temperance, MI. Dick was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lou Werth and nephew, Donald Redding.

Visitation will be from 6-9 pm Thursday at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI.  Memorial services will be held Friday at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church, 304 Franklin Street, Blissfield, MI 49228. Rev. Bob Bidwell, officiating. Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Children’s Services, 3500 Camboni Way, Monroe, MI 48162.
