Margaret M. (Laskey) Uhl, age 86 years of Bedford Twp., MI, died Monday, October 16, 2006 in Windhaven Elderly Care, Temperance, MI. Born Oct. 6, 1920 in Toledo, OH, she was the daughter of Dorothy and George (Reuscher) Laskey. She married Bernard B. Uhl on June 5, 1943 in Rosary Cathedral, Toledo, OH . Margaret attended St. Angela Hall, St. Ursula Academy and graduated from the former Mary Manse College in 1942 with a BS degree. She then graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Masters in Primary Education. After graduation she moved to Asbury Park, NJ, where she worked for the Signal Core, US Army at Ft. Monmouth, NJ. She then taught for St. Anthony School in Temperance, St. Joseph School in Erie, Christ the King School in Toledo and retired from Bedford Public Schools in 1985 after 20 years, where she then was a volunteer. Margaret was an active member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Temperance, MI, where she was a Eucharistic Minister, active in the Keen-Agers, the Resurrection Choir and volunteered for the funeral luncheons. She was also past president of L.C.B.A. Br. 482, past trustee for the National L.C.B.A. and a member of Michigan Education Association, Delta Kappa Gamma Society and Ursuline Associates.

Surviving are her loving husband of 63 years, Bernard. Children, Dr. James Uhl of Sylvania, OH, Michael Uhl of Holland, OH, Robert (Karen) Uhl of Irmo, SC, Dorothy Zimmerman of Toledo, OH and Barbara Harris of Temperance, MI. 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Joan Wilson and Ruth Langton.

Friends may call from 2-9 pm Wednesday in the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd., Temperance, MI. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:45 am in the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Temperance, MI. Fr. Daniel Nusbaum, officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Ursuline Convent in Toledo, OH or Mercy Memorial Hospice, Monroe, MI.
