Charlie
B. Thornton, 79 of Toledo, died Saturday,
August 14, 2004 at Lake Park in Sylvania.
Born April 2, 1925 in Lester, Alabama, he
was the son of Robert Lee and Velma (Gatlin)
Thornton. Charlie married Marie Daniel on
December 26, 1946 in Athens, Alabama. She
preceded him in death on August 23, 1991.
He was employed for 35 years driving for
T.A.R.T.A., retiring May 31, 1988. Charlie
was a life member of the V.F.W. 2898 and
an active member of the Northwest Baptist
Church, both in Toledo.

are his loving children, Kathy (Vernon)
Powers of Toledo, Nancy (Kenneth) Tincher
of Eatonton, GA, Charles “Randy”
Thornton of Toledo and Patricia (Tim) Martin
of Toledo. Brother, Robert Lee Thornton
of Lakeland, FL and 2 sisters, Mary (Junior)
Reese of Columbia, TN and Frances (Charles)
Loveland of Athens, Alabama and 5 grandchildren,
10 great grandchildren and 1 great great
grandson.
Friends may call from 2-9 p.m. Tuesday in
the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640
Smith Road (one mile north of Alexis), where
funeral services will be held Wednesday
at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Andrew Edwards, III,
pastor of Northwest Baptist Church, officiating.
Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial
Park. Memorials may be made to the Northwest
Baptist Church. |
