Waneta “Mimi” Stark, 84 years of Erie, MI, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 2, 2012 in Hickory Ridge of Temperance. Born, August 11, 1927 in Arlington, OH, she was the daughter of Ralph and Alma (Beach) Steinman. A graduate of Monroe High School, she married Durward on September 25, 1948. He preceded her in death on December 11, 1991. She was a past member of the Erie V.F.W., Post 3925 Ladies Auxiliary, Erie Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and Ten Pin Club. Waneta was employed as a news writer for the Monroe Evening News for 10 years and an Avon Representative for 23 years. She loved being with her grandchildren, enjoyed playing cards, taking pictures, working on family history, but most of all she was passionate about sending greeting cards.
She is survived by her loving children; Denny (Mary) Stark, Vickie Stark, Evon (Carlos) Herrera, Suzette (E.J.) Croll, Annette (Lambert) LaVoy, Sara (Dan) Lewis & step-son, Billy Cousino. 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her son, Joe, brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Dolores Steinman, and loving companion, Bill Cousino.
Visitation will be held from 2-9 pm Friday at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Erie, MI, where she will lie in state after 9:00 am. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Erie Township Volunteer Fire Department. |
