Theodore
“Ted” Olszewski, age 86 years of Temperance,
MI, died Monday, July 23, 2007 in his home.
Born April 2, 1921 in Trenton, NJ, he was
the son of John and Rose (Karpinski) Olszewski.
Ted married Helen Charles on Feb. 23, 1946
in St. Anthony Catholic Church in Temperance,
where had been a member and served as an
usher all his life. He was employed as a
welder & mechanic by Daimler Chrysler
(Jeep) Corporation for 40 years, retiring
in 1981. Ted was an avid gardener and enjoyed
making wine from his home grown grapes.
A WWII Navy veteran, he was a survivor of
the USS Chicago that was sunk in the South
Pacific in January of 1943.
He
was also a member of the Knights of Columbus,
Council # 11430 and U.A.W., Local 12.
Surviving
are his loving wife, Helen of 61 years.
Children, Sr. Rita Mary Olszewski, RSM of
Detroit, MI, James (Cheryl) Olszewski of
Onsted, MI, Gerard R. (Laura) Olszewski
of Temperance, MI and Monica (Larry) Kesting
of Temperance, MI. Brothers, Lawrence Olszewski
of Florida and Chester (Sophie) Olszewski
of Petersburg, MI and 8 grandchildren. Ted
was preceded in death by a sister, Helen
Gurzynski and brother, Stanley Olszewski.
Visitation
will be Tuesday from 4-9 pm at the Michael
W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at
Jackman) Temperance, MI, where Scripture
Service will be held Tuesday at 7:30 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday
at 11:00 am in St. Anthony Catholic Church
in Temperance, MI, where he will lie in
state after 10:00 am . Fr. Michael Quaine,
former pastor of the church, officiating.
Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Anthony Church
or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
