Frederick
“Fred” B. Newsome, age 77 years of Lambertville,
MI, died Friday, November 19, 2004 in
The Toledo Hospital at 2:06 p.m. after
a brief illness. Born August 23, 1927 in
Waldheim, PA, he was the son of George and
Kathryn (Higgins) Newsome. A WWII Army veteran,
he married Mildred “Millie” Hollingsworth
on Aug. 23, 1949 in Bude, MS. Fred retired
from Jefferson Junior High School in
Monroe, MI after serving 28 years as
teacher and
counselor. He was a member of the Emmanuel
Baptist Church in Toledo, where he
taught
Sunday school for several years. Prior,
he had been a charter member of Calvary
Baptist
Church in Monroe, MI, where he was
ordained and had been song director,
deacon, and
Sunday school teacher. Fred was a 1945
graduate of Lower Merion High School
in Narberth, PA , received his associates
in arts from Tennessee Temple, bachelors
of
music from
Northwestern College in Minneapolis,
MN and master's in Counseling from Eastern
Michigan University.
Surviving
is his loving wife, Millie. Children, Dave
(Mary) Newsome of Trenton, GA, Becky
(Bob) Baird of Twin Falls, ID, Mark (Beth)
Newsome
of Ooltewah, TN, Debbie Newsome of The
Gambia, West Africa, Paul (Cindy) Newsome
of Lambertville,
MI, Mary Newsome of Santiago, Dominican
Republic and 13 grandchildren.
Friends
may call from 2-9 p.m. Tuesday at the
Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith
Road
(at Jackman), Temperance. Funeral services
will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in
Emmanuel Baptist Church, Rev. Philip
DeCourcy, Senior Pastor of Emmanuel Baptist
Church, officiating. Interment will follow
in Whiteford
Union Cemetery . Memorials may be made
