Sigmund
“Smokie” S. Mieczkowski, age 95 years of
Erie, MI, died Wednesday, December 13, 2006
in his home. Born May 16, 1911 in Brooklyn,
NY, he was the son of Adam and Alexandra
(Dombroska) Mieczkowski. His early years
growing up were in Toledo, OH and Scranton,
PA. On June 29, 1935, he married Madonna
T. Hepp in Sacred Heart Catholic Church
in East Toledo. Smokie retired on Jan. 1,
1976 from Libby Glass Company after 47 years.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church
in Erie, MI and the Glass Blowers Association
in Toledo. Smokie enjoyed his home, which
he built, fishing, woodworking, and traveling.
Surviving
is his loving wife, Madonna. Brother, Tony
Mieczkowki of Toledo , OH . Special nieces,
Julie Klosowski, Dorothy Kachmarik, Lois
Marker and several more nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by 2 brothers,
Walter and John Mieczkowski and 2 sisters,
Mary Lewandowski and Hattie Klonowski.
The
will be no visitation. A Memorial Mass will
be held Saturday at 10:00 am at St. Joseph
Catholic Church. Memorials may be made to
Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Arrangements
by the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, Temperance,
MI.
