Roland E. Mickens, 86 years of Toledo, OH, died Monday, December 28, 2009 in the Ebeid Hospice Residence, Sylvania, OH.  Born Oct. 25, 1923 in Toledo, OH, he was the son of Edward and Ruth (Seeman) Mickens.  A US Navy veteran of WWII, he married Charleen C. Page Feb. 22, 1946.  Roland was employed by Foodtown for 30 years, retiring as manger in 1988.  He was an active member of Northwest Baptist Church in Toledo, where he served as usher for several years. Roland also enjoyed fishing and golfing. 

Surviving are his loving wife of 63 years, Charleen. Daughter, Mary Louise (William) Zaleski of Bryan, OH.  Brother, Gerald M. Mickens of Temperance, MI, 9 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, William Rogers and daughter, Doris Ann Laughlin. 

Visitation will be Wednesday from 3-9 pm at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home. 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 am. Pastor Andrew Edwards, III, officiating.  Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.  Memorials may be made to Northwest Baptist Church.
