Thurman
L. Johnson, age 74 years of Temperance,
MI, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday,
Nov. 14, 2007 in Lake Park, Sylvania, OH.
Born August 4, 1933 in Monroe, MI, he was
the son of Udell S. and Mary Alice (Penrod)
Johnson. A US Army veteran of the 11 th
Airborne during the Korean War, he married
Ruth H. Beard on June 12, 1954 in the First
Baptist Church of Temperance, MI. Thurman
was employed by Art Iron in Toledo from
1963-1983. He retired from Sharon Manufacturing
in Lambertville, MI in 1988. He also was
employed by The MTS Seating in the early
1960's. He was a member of the American
Legion, Post 192, Sherman Osborne Post in
Temperance, MI and was financial secretary
for the former Local #499 in Toledo, OH.
He enjoyed bowling at Forest View Lanes
2-3 times a week, and helping family members
remodel their homes.
He
leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years.

of Harrisburg, NC, Cheryl A. Lewis of Erie,
MI, Lyle B. (Ann) Johnson of Temperance,
MI and Scott E. (Denise) Johnson of Point
Place, OH. Brothers, Udell “Ace” (Beth Ann)
Johnson of Monroe, MI, Lawrence (Zelma)
Johnson of Athens, TN and Gary (Darlene)
Johnson of Chelsea, MI. 15 Grandchildren
and 21 great grandchildren. He was preceded
in death by his parents and son in law,
Michael Lewis.
Visitation
will be from 6-9 pm Sunday and 3-9 Monday
at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640
Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where
funeral services will be held Tuesday at
11:00 am. Rev. Stephen Sparks, officiating.
Interment will follow at Whiteford Union
Cemetery . Memorial may be made to Comfort
Care Hospice or the First Baptist Church
of Temperance.
