Lucile Hodgins, age 86 years of Blissfield, MI, died Friday, November 28, 2008 in Flower Hospital. Born November 9, 1922 in Ogden Twp., MI, she was the daughter of Ervin and Bertha Z. (Shannon) Russell. She married Fred Hodgins on December 4, 1951 in San Diego, CA. Lucile was an active member of the Lenawee County 4-H, serving on the State Council for 3 years and as a 4-H leader for 36 years. She cared for the fairground flowers and was a 4-H Foods Superintendent for a number of years. Lucile was an avid reader and enjoyed canning and freezing, gardening, and sewing.
Surviving are her loving husband, Fred. Children, John (Bev) Clark of Grants Pass, OR, Rebecca (Kenneth) Clark of Blissfield, MI, Bill ( Ninette) Hodgins of Bluffton, SC, Anne (Rick) Jones of Blissfield, MI, Robert (Marilou) Hodgins of Graytown, OH and Paul Hodgins of Graytown, OH, 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Elizabeth Konopka and two brothers, Franklin and Roger Russell. At Lucile’s request, her body was donated to The University of Michigan Medical School.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, December 12, 2008 at the Sylvania United Church of Christ. Memorials may be to the church. Arrangements by the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, Temperance, MI.
