| Melvin “Buck” R. Cole, Sr., age 83 years of Lambertville, MI, died Thursday, October 09, 2008 in his home. Born Dec. 17, 1924 in Bedford Twp., MI, he was the son of Robert M. and Sarah J. (DuVall) Cole. A US Army veteran of WWII, he married Patsy Weber on February 26, 1949 in Angola, IN. In 1948 he and Lloyd “Knobby” Nolfo started Buck and Knobby Equipment Company in Toledo, OH and now in Ottawa Lake, MI. He was with the company for over 25 years, retiring in the 1970’s. Prior, he worked for Shortway Lines and had also started his own dump truck business. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Surviving are his loving wife and dancing partner of 59 years, Patsy. Children, Nola (Philip) Wernert, Beverly (David) Heady, Dianna Nuzum, Jasper (Elizabeth) Cole, Muriel (Douglas) Easter, and Jeffrey (Dianne) Cole. 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Melvin R. Cole, Jr.
Visitation will be from 3-9 pm Sunday at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Whiteford Union Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland, OH.
