EWilliam Blessing, Sr., 85 of Toledo, OH, died Saturday, February 18, 2012 in Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perryburg Twp., OH. Born Sept. 5, 1926 in Toledo, Ohio, he was the son of Frederick and Ardath (Bryan) Blessing. Bill married Mary A. Urban on June 19, 1948. He was a firefighter for the city of Toledo for 33 years, retiring in 1982. Bill was owner and operator of Blessing Concrete and built several homes in the greater Toledo area. He was a member of the BOAZ Lodge # 669, F. & A.M and Local 92 Fire Fighters. He was active in both Alexis Congregational Church and Wesley United Methodist Church as well as Gideon’s North Camp.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary. Children, Becky (Terry) Brocus, Kathryn (Gregory) MacDonald and William (Debra) Blessing, Jr. Brothers, Fred (Dorothy) Blessing and Lee (Linda) Blessing, Sister, Ardath “Kay” (Bruce) Mears. 8 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren
Viewing will only be 3-9 pm Thursday at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where the Toledo Fire Fighters will perform the Last Alarm Thursday at 7:00 pm. A memorial service will be Friday at 11:00 am at Lambertville United Methodist Church (Dean & Douglas) Lambertville, MI. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Gideon’s International. |
