| Gerald “Bud” L. Bird, age 83 years of Toledo, OH and formerly of Temperance, MI, died Sunday, September 21, 2008 in Harborside Healthcare, Sylvania Twp., Ohio. Born April 7, 1925 in Temperance, MI, he was the son of William and Louisa V. (Lincoln) Bird, Jr. A US Army veteran of WWII, he married Doris Hoffman on Sept. 10, 1955 in Toledo. Gerald was employed by the former Dura Corporation in Toledo for 30 years, retiring in 1975. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Toledo, OH.
Surviving are his loving wife of 53 years, Doris. Children, Gerald “Jerry” (Becky) Bird, Beth (Steven) Engel and Ed (Monica) Bird. Brother, Merle Bird. 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, William and Thomas Bird, 2 sisters, Esther Vicary and Geraldine Gasser and daughter in law, Cheryl Bird.
Visitation will be from 4-9 pm Friday at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 pm. Interment Toledo Memorial Park. Memorial may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio. |
