Erma Jean
Barker, age 75 years of Temperance, MI,
passed away Friday,
June 1, 2007 at Harborside Healthcare, Sylvania
Township, OH. Born Oct. 7, 1931 in Sciotoville,
OH, she was the daughter of Howard and Laura
(Cahill) Flowers. A 1949 graduate of Clay
High School, she married Jack Barker, Sr.
on Jan. 14, 1950 in Angola, IN. He preceded
her in death on April 25, 1988. Erma was
employed as a hand glass cutter for Libbey
Glass, division of O-I for 41 years, retiring
in 1995. While at Libbey Glass, she cut
special glassware for visiting dignitaries
and also served as a union committee person
for several years. She was a member of the
Eagles #197 in Toledo and the Bedford Senior
Center, where she was actively involved
in the “Meals on Wheels” program. Erma was
a devoted wife, mother, who took pride in
her work and children. She enjoyed walking
and playing bingo with friends and spending
quiet time reading her favorite novels.
She
is survived by her loving children, Jack
(Barbara) Barker, Jr. of Lambertville, MI
and Gregory (Marge) Barker of Temperance,
MI. Brother, Larry (Karen) Flowers of Toledo,
OH. Sister, Frances (William) Morea of Hartwell,
GA. 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents,
Brothers, Howard (Sonny), Richard (Dink)
and Charles Flowers. Sisters, Thelma Bailey,
Carol Elkins, and Darlene Willard.
Visitation
will be held Sunday from 6-9 pm and 2-9
pm Monday at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral
Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance,
MI, where funeral services will be held
Tuesday at 11:00 am. Pastor Bob Manuel of
Northwest Christian Church, officiating.
Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial
Park, Sylvania, OH . Memorials may be made
to Northwest Christian Church.
