Robert L. Kraft Sr., 85, of Toledo, passed away on Friday, October 22, 2010, at Flower Hospital, Sylvania, where he had been for 8 days; he had been in failing health since April.

He was born October 23, 1924 in Toledo to Michael “Diggy” and Agnes (Deshetler) Kraft. He married his beloved wife, Dorothy Gerber, on October 10, 1942, and she survives. Bob served his country honorably during WWII in the US Navy SeaBee’s. He was very proud to have recently ridden on a Honor Flight with other veterans from Northwest Ohio to Washington DC to visit the WW II Memorial.

He was a 65 year member of the Local #50, Toledo (Northwood), working as a plumber, retiring in 1985, but never actually “quit” working, Bob was always willing to volunteer his expertise and lend a hand where it was necessary.

Bob was a member of the Conn-Wiesenberger American Legion Post #587, Toledo, a life member of the VFW Post #6509, Summerfield, and the Local 50’s retirement club that met monthly.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife; sons, Robert L. (Nancy) Jr. of Monroe, Fred W. (Linda) of Toledo, and Terry L. of Toledo; daughters, Dorothy M. (Les) Harper of Ottawa Lake, Rose M. (Cork) Streicher of Toledo, and Sherry L. ( Bob) Cowell of Toledo; brothers, John of Texas, Charles of Germany, and Eddie Esser of Toledo; sisters, Eunice (Dick) Lewis of Toledo, Vernice Mills of Arizona, Francis Stark of Texas, and Phyllis Marker or Toledo; 22 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and a great great grandson; his very best friend, Matt Armstrong; and many other family members and friends.

Sadly, his parents, a son, Mike, 3 sisters, and a brother, all preceded him in death. He was a selfless volunteer who spent his life taking care of his family, friends, and anyone who needed his help. He will surely be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation for Bob will be held at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Road, on Monday, October 25, from 3-8 PM. Services celebrating his life and legacy will be on Tuesday at 11 AM at the funeral home, followed by burial at Toledo Memorial Park. Rev. Jerry Craig of Hopewell Wesleyan Church, Toledo will officiate.
